Publications

The China Australia Writing Centre (CAWC) have contributed to a number of journals, and published a two volume bilingual anthology of Chinese and Australian poetry in collaboration with CAWC Fudan. The second Australian volume is due for publication in 2021 with Recent Work Press.

The second English volume of this major translation project – a CAWC collaboration between Fudan and Curtin universities, and the International Poetry Studies Institute (IPSI) at the University of Canberra – is edited by Lucy Dougan and Paul Hetherington.

The bilingual anthology, translated from the English into Chinese by poet and scholar Iris Fan, includes a cross-section of Australia’s vibrant poetic culture, featuring twenty emerging poets and twenty-one more established poets, those born before 1970.

A digital chapbook published by Cordite Poetry Review. The poems selected for this chapbook by our director, Lucy Dougan, and Cordite Translations Editor, Alice Whitmore, were drawn from Volume 1 of the Homings & Departures (2018) translation project.

The chapbook includes work from Wang Ao, Fang Na, Zhao Si and Fan Xing, with English translations from the Chinese by Eleanor Goodman, Austin Woerner, Heather Inwood and Cui Yuwei.

Homings & Departures Vol.1, Qinghai People’s Publishing House 2018

The first Chinese volume of this major translation project – a CAWC collaboration between Fudan and Curtin universities, and the International Poetry Studies Institute (IPSI) at the University of Canberra – features fifty one contemporary poets from mainland China, offering an introduction to Chinese poetry today.
The bilingual anthology is edited by Bao Huiyi and Hai An, whose translations accompany those of a number of celebrated English-speaking scholars, poets and translators.

The Asia Pacific issue includes a special feature from The China Australia Writing Centre edited by CAWC Program Director, Lucy Dougan, who writes the introduction.

The feature includes essays by Chinese academics Huang Yuanshen and Zhou Xiaojin, A Selection of Four Poems by Chinese Women translated by Iris Fan, plus new work from Josephine Wilson, Fan Dai and Elizabeth Tan.

This special issue of the prestigious Chinese literary journal was published in partnership with the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE). Edited by Prof Kim Scott and Prof Wang Guanglin, who both provide introductions, the issue features fifteen Australian writers in Chinese translation.
Australian literary luminaries such as Robert Drewe, Gerald Murnane, Joan London and Janette Turner Hospital are published alongside Curtin writers David Whish-Wilson, Kim Scott and Deborah Hunn.
