Events

The China Australia Writing Centre (CAWC) hold events throughout each year, with Creative Conversations as our flagship annual program.

Past events include co-hosting the Australian-Chinese artist William Yang in 2017 for the closing event of Writers Week at the Perth Festival.

In 2018 our annual symposium was hosted by our partners, Fudan University, in Shanghai in early November. Creative Conversations was also held in China for the first time at Zhida Bookstore. The event was live-streamed and can be viewed on our YouTube channel.

In 2019 we again hosted a delegation from Fudan University in Perth. Creative Conversations featured Curtin’s own Dr Jo Jones, Noongar writer Kim Scott, and Chinese poet and photographer, Wang Yin. The event was book-ended by Dialogue #5: Translation, Negotiation, Adaptation our fifth annual two-day symposium.

In 2020 and 2021 our program has been curtailed by the pandemic, but we will be launching the second volume in our major translation project.
